Sorry in advance for long post . Does anyone have any experience of a child with a hemangioma . My 4 yo has one right on the end of her nose . It seems very different to those i have been reading about in other threads. It only came up a few months after her 2nd birthday ( so much later than usual) and is a noticeable pin prick with the surrounding area turning a bluish/ greenish colour. Basically like a very bad bruise. It comes and goes … i think i have made a connection with the weather turning colder / her having a cold and I think her nose feels cold to touch. We were back and forth to guy’s hospital and I thought we were going to have surgery on it but then the surgeon said this wasnt a good idea as it could ruin the whole shape of her nose . They said most cases clear up by 6yo sometimes takes up to age 10 but it has returned with a vengeance and im just so worried she is going to get picked on at school. Just wondered if anyone had similar experience? Thank you

My dd has one on her neck about the size of a thumbprint. It was bright red and was like half a strawberry stuck to her, but is recently starting to fade.

She's 7.5 now, we were told it would be gone by age 8 but that's not looking likely.

An old friend of mine had one on her arm that never faded, she had it removed in her 60s and said she wished she had as a child as people always commented.

I took DD to various medical appointments asking to get it removed between age 3 and 6 knowing that kids are mean and when she's older they'll comment how it looks like a hickie. I eventually gave up asking when always told no.

If she turns self conscious about it and asks for us to do something when she's older we'll go back and ask to have it removed, and teach her how to cover it with make up. She doesn't like when people ask what it is, but for now people are just curious and ask once on first encounter.

Thank you. Do you think it will completely fade ? I dont know if i should go back and get a second opinion from a different surgeon or maybe ask for propanol or another treatment to at least make it look less obvious. People have suggested i cover with makeup but i really dont like the idea of putting concealer on my 4yo and will also just give her a complex whereas now she is unaware really . I have had some horrible people comment. People (grown men) pointing and laughing in supermarkets and cashiers asking whats happened to her nose . Just breaks my heart really 😢

My daughter has two - one on her chest and another actually underneath her eyelid, so you can only see a bit of a blemish from the 'normal' side of her eyelid.

The one on her chest appeared when she was a month or two old, and we were told it would be gone before she was 2. She is nearly 7 now, and it is still there, although really flat and small now.

The one on the underside of her eyelid was more worrying, and we were actually given some sort of medication that 'could' make it smaller, but the doctor said they wouldn't actually recommend using it Confused. It was so confusing, so we didn't use it.

In my experience they last much longer than the doctors seem to think. I don't know now what the medication was, but maybe that would be an option for your daughter? I'd be tempted to try and get some treatment.

Hi @Pixie18 my little girl has one in exactly the same place. Could I PM you a pic of her as a baby and now she's nearly 5. I am
Sure it will offer huge reassurance.

My DD has one between her nose and her mouth. It's never really shrunk in size, but she's got bigger around it (if that makes sense!) Its also faded so its mostly flesh coloured now (colour changes when she's upset or cold).

Most people don't notice now its faded. I know its there, but other relatives forget.

My child had one. Spotted at 6wk check.
Doc said would be gone by the time they were 7.

It was.

It was about 2cm square

Yes please @sparklecrazy! Do we send via mumsnet?

This is how DDs has changed over the years. One picture at a few months old, one now at 10 years old. So its a raised flesh coloured bump now.

@Aroundtheworldin80moves yes they did say it wouldn’t grow with her . Im just worried she will be the small percentage whose hemangioma doesnt disappear!
