When does HFM stop being infectious?

My DS got hand foot and mouth last Saturday and still has some spots remaining around his mouth. I’m a bit confused by google as some say he’s only contagious before the spots come out, others say it’s only 5 days, something else said it could be weeks after. With half term coming up I've no idea whether I can take him on activities or not that I've got booked with my older DD. Part of me thinks by then it will be 10 days and if the blisters aren't filed anymore then it's okay, especially if it's outdoor activities but I'm
not 100%. Can anyone give any advice on when I can start takIng him out? Thank you

You can take them out and about and back to nursery/school as soon as they feel better. There's no need to wait for the blisters to disappear. That's what the doctors and 111 told us. It's also the info on the NHS website. My DD was also allowed into the doctors for her flu spray whilst her blisters were there. The GP surgery said as long as she didn't have a tempature then it was fine

I've had it with my son and I waited until the blisters had stopped weeping and were crusted over a bit. No new ones ect...

How is your son now? Were you able to avoid any one else in the family getting? I’m worried about my three other children getting it from the baby and then half term plans for them being spoilt!

He's absolutely fine! He was literally rubbing his spots on my face which was making me really cringe but I haven't got it and neither has my daughter or husband. Fingers crossed your end stays healthy xx
