Dog bite

It’s been nearly 2 month since my mums dog bit my girl on the face :(

Some days are easier, some days are harder, but the guilt won’t ease.

I feel lucky that she’s got only 2 “small” bites, as it could have been much worse, and the same time I don’t feel lucky at all :(

Her scars weren’t stitched at the er, as they said there’s a high risk of infection, and I think that’s the scariest part for me, as I don’t know how scars without stitches, glue etc will heal.

I suppose I only wrote this post to ask other mums who had a same accident, or their child had a same accident how their scars healed, what was the outcome, are they self concious about it or not at all?

Picture of my little girl scars, hopefully they won’t leave a big mark and she won’t even notice it even when she gets older.

not dog bite scars but scars from an accident.
dc was 2 and it took about a year to fade.
now as teenager only visible if you really look for it.
keep it protected from direct daylight (uv protection)

Thank you.

I know scars can take up to a year to fade...was your dc scar stitched, glued etc?

they were steri stripped.
left a bit open to heal from the bottom up to prevent infection.

Oh dear of her! The pink colour will fade and scars on children can change as they grow. I haven't used it myself but people swear by things like bio oil. Also I think I would want a full summer to pass before I judged how noticeable it's going to be - sunlight can do wonders.

Dd1 has a v obvious chicken pox pair of scars on her face which are (in my opinion) worse than those in the photos. She is 8 she's had them since she was 2. She forgets they are there and doesn't care.

When DD cut her face open on a table edge at school, they recommended using a silicone gel after it had started to heal. It really helped clear the scar up.

It's not cheap but it really helped.

My son burst his eye open on a broom at nursery when someone was sweeping and they didn't realise he was behind them.

It went away after a year. No stitches, no glue was used. You can buy a cream that makes them fade quicker and helps with healing but it's about £40 for a small tube from the pharmacy.

Pics took ages to load. Looks like they're healing really well already op.

Thank you. May I ask was it a deep injury for you son also?

What is the name of the cream which helps healing quicker?
