Is this Tinnitus? How can I help Dd?

Dd2 mentioned at bedtime on Tuesday she could hear a little sound in her ear when it was quiet. She made the noise and it was the same as I have had with tinnitus occasionally. She fine in the day but says she hears it when it’s quiet - at bedtime mostly.
I took her to see the nurse at the doctors yesterday and she said no infection but could see a slight inflammation inside on both that could possibly be causing it. She advised swimming ear plugs, as she has a swimming lesson once a week.
This morning Dd2 called me in for the first time in the morning and said she could hear it again, but it was a bit louder. She’s fine once up and about/at school, it’s during quiet times. I feel pretty helpless.
Not sure what’s caused it, nurse thinks could be chlorine in pool, but she hasn’t been swimming for almost 2 weeks. She does wear headphones to go on a tablet, but they are supposed to be kid limited volume and she doesn’t go on it constantly or even every day. She had been listening to music/dancing on the afternoon it first appeared.
Does anyone have experience of this? Will it go in time? Is there anything I can do to help the bit of inflammation? Any advise on swimming ear plugs?

I have just seen this post and sorry to hear your daughter has tinnitus. It could be water in her ear which has caused an infection in her inner ear. Maybe ask her to put her head to the side after swimming to shake the water out. Possible wear Quies silicone ear plugs when swimming. I would recommend she saw an ear specialist. I suffer from tinnitus in both ears from 2020 and this was brought on after getting water in my ears dipping my head under water while washing it. Ears became infected and painful, which led to tinnitus. Possibly using the cotton wool buds regularly was part of the problem too. It’s awful at first, but listening to podcasts at night helps me get to sleep. You soon get used to it and forget it’s there. Just have to learn to live with it, but so annoying that I got it in the first place. Different people get tinnitus for different reasons, some loud music can damage ear drums, ear infection etc. For some people it goes away, after swelling has gone down, and for others it’s for life. But life has to go on and tinnitus should be pushed to the background.Hope your daughter recovers soon.

If the tinnitus is in one ear only, please do get her checked by a GP just to rule out anything nasty.
