One year vaccinations when child is unwell?

Hi, baby has been diagnosed with an ear infection today and put on amoxicillin. Had a temp of 40 last night. He also has a cold/cough. He is due his vaccines on Thursday. The nurse said to cancel if he still has a high temp or seems unwell otherwise I can discuss it with the nurse on Thursday. Not sure whether to just cancel anyway, or will it not make any difference? I know a cold isn't a reason to cancel but I'm not sure if it's all just a bit much?

I'd see how they are on Thursday. It's a bit of a hit but worth getting it done and tricky to book in around here.

It's first thing in the morning Thursday and he always perks up first thing with barely a temp before it rises during the afternoon and spikes at night, so I've only got tomorrow to asses how he is

I'd just take him if no temp and discuss then. If you're not happy to go ahead then they'll understand. And they might say OK let's do 2 now and 2 later.

A cold is a very good reason to cancel.

The extra stress on the child’s system that vaccines can produce on an already ill body could prove to be too much.

I'd definitely rearrange them if he is poorly.

Has he been covid tested? I know quite a few toddlers with those symptoms who have tested positive.

Simple coughs and colds are no reason to cancel.
A systemic acute illness with a temp and on antibiotics is.
It's not advised to split vaccines. Delaying a week or two won't matter.
Rebook.
Practice nurse.

Thanks all. He was covid tested 3 weeks ago but I need to get him tested again really - he's had a permanent runny nose since starting nursery but he's definitely caught yet another virus as things have worsened in the last few days.

@cptartapp thanks this is helping me make my decision!

But acute illnesses start off as simple coughs and colds. I know of one dreadful outcome where a child was ill with a “simple cold” and was given their vaccines.

Oh my goodness, cancel them! Re-book as soon as he's fully recovered. His poor little immune system, already fighting germs and then given a bunch more to cope with. :-(

I rearranged for next week, he didn't seem well yesterday so I didn't bother waiting till today!

Bythe but if a child presents with a cough or cold, eating and drinking pretty well, not febrile or acutely unwell then the advice is to vaccinate.
If we postponed every vaccination for every child with a cough or cold then there'd be millions of partially or unvaccinated children.
