DS, 3, has had cough/cold symptoms since early September. COVID test was negative.
On the weekend he was extremely lethargic and developed spots on his face and arms (about 10 in total now). They look like the red mountain that erupts before you get a pimple. His cough is very chesty but he’s a bit more perky though still lying down a lot and clingy etc.
Spoke to NHS Direct on the weekend and they suspected chicken pox but said to contact GP.
Got through to the GP receptionist this morning who request we send photos through and Dr would call back.
DH spoke to the Dr and she has said she doesn’t think it’s chicken pox, she thinks it’s a viral infection causing the rash. Told us to see if the spots blister in 24-48 hrs and we’ll know either way. Her only recommendation was to give calpol as we’ve been doing. She said we could call back again if we were concerned.
I know they’ve been limiting face to face appointments but I would have thought this would warrant an examination/investigation?
This is the first time he’s had any illness that’s required a GP so not sure if I’m expecting too much.
