My daughter has this all over her body, I've given her an antihistamine but it hasn't made any difference

What could this be??

Chickenpox

tintodeverano2 · 29/09/2021 19:15

Are they little blisters?

NoNameIdeas · 29/09/2021 19:22

Was also going to say chicken pox, there are lots of cases at dds nursery at the mo!

BobaFettOnMyBedsideTable · 29/09/2021 19:23

Looks like a viral rash. Does it disappear if you roll a glass over it? Is otherwise well in herself?

legalseagull · 29/09/2021 19:26

Chicken pox?

milkytwilight · 29/09/2021 19:27

Looks similar to a measles rash. But equally anything viral with a rash can look like lots of other things. With that though I'd be taking them to the doctors, walk in centre, or similar, tonight.

aimslou · 29/09/2021 19:36

She's 13 and has had chicken pox before. I also wasn't sure if she was too old to get a viral rash 🤷🏼‍♀️
I think I need to take her or call 111 as it's happened whilst at school as she was fine this morning and isn't going down.

I’d ring 111 - don’t just walk into a&e or walk in (unless she needs urgent care suddenly or develops other worrying symptoms), as that looks like measles which is hugely contagious, and the clinic may need to prep a space for isolation. If you call 111 they’ll be able to advise.

takingmytimeonmyride · 29/09/2021 19:56

When we all had covid one of my DC's first symptoms was a rash all over, then a temperature. If we hadn't all been getting covid I would have thought it was something else entirely.

Hope she's not feeling too bad.

aimslou · 29/09/2021 19:57

I've filled out a form online for 111, just waiting for a call back.
Thanks all

Is she feeling unwell? If not I wouldn’t worry too much. My dd had a similar rash when she was 13/14, it looked awful, I was advised to take her to the chemist and ask them, they seemed to think it was just a viral rash or a reaction to something, dd was fine in herself, had a few mild cold symptoms, rash was gone an a couple days.

noodledoodler · 29/09/2021 20:20

Looks like rubella or yes even measles to me, I am not an expert at all but had both as a child. Has she been vaccinated against both?

FoodieToo · 29/09/2021 20:22

Guttate psoriasis maybe ? Has she had a sore throat recently ?

idontlikealdi · 29/09/2021 20:31

Looks like when mine had infected eczema. Hope she's ok.

Coatandhat · 29/09/2021 21:44

Has she eaten anything that she might have had an allergic reaction to?

aimslou · 30/09/2021 20:18

Thanks guys.
Apparently it's a reaction to the antibiotics she took last week. It's a lot worse today though and the antihistamines don't seem to be helping at all

Glad to hear that you've found out the cause. Allergic reactions are like an iron heating up - they flare up quickly but take much longer to calm down.
