Dog bite

It’s been almost 8 weeks since my mums dog bit my girl on the face :(

Some days are easier, some days are harder, but the guilt won’t ease.

I feel lucky that she’s got only 2 “small” bites, as it could have been much worse, and the same time I don’t feel lucky at all :(

Her scars weren’t stitched at the er, as they said there’s a high risk of infection, and I think that’s the scariest part for me, as I don’t know how scars without stitches, glue etc will heal.

I suppose I only wrote this post to ask other mums who had a same accident, or their child had a same accident how their scars healed, what was the outcome, are they self concious about it or not at all?

Picture of my little girl scars, hopefully they won’t leave a big mark and she won’t even notice it even when she gets older.

Hi op. Your poor DD and what a shock for you.
As a seven year old, I was bitten on the mouth by a dog. The marks healed very quickly. The fear of dogs took years to overcome, though, so watch out for that as my dog phobia was very restrictive for years.
However, a year later I fell face first and cut my face open very badly. I had several seriously grazed areas and a large laceration on my chin requiring multiple stitches. Within a year or so, it had faded loads and by the time I left primary school, it was barely noticeable. It was ten times bigger than your DD’s scar, so don’t worry.
In honesty, my chicken pox scars were and still are ( in my 40s) more noticeable.
When it’s better healed, massage some bio-oil in. It’s brilliant for scars.
Hope she’s ok.
