Broncholitis?

Hi all,
Looking for some advice. My little one (4 months old) has been wheezing when breathing for the last 4 days, and has a cough.
His wees and poos are normal as his temperature. I think it's likely he has bronchiolitis but can't get through to my GP or 111.
Nhs website says most cases resolve themselves at home but at what stage do you take them into hospital?
Feel so sorry for the little man

As it has been a few days I would take him down as a precaution. I'm sure it's over the top but better to be safe etc, and it will reassure you.

It's a while since mine were babies, but I had one hospitalised with bronchiolitis.

A warning sign IIRC was if you watch their tummy while they are breathing and there is sucking in under the ribs it means they are having to work hard and should be seen.

4 months is still so young, I very much doubt that anyone would be cross if you took him somewhere to be checked.

Hope he gets better soon

The main things to worry about with bronchiolitis is difficulty breathing and poor fluid intake.
If he is wheezy but other wise happy, that's ok, but if you feel he is struggling to breath, definitely get him checked. Signs he is struggling to breathe are if you can see sucking in under his ribs when he breaths, or I between his ribs, if he is sucking in at his neck, or if his head is bobbing up at down with each breath. If he has any of them, I'd definitely say to get him checked out.
He will most likely drink less just now, but as long as he is having wet nappies and having about half of his normal feeds that's ok, but keep an eye on it. You might need to give more, smaller feeds less often.
Theres no medicine to make bronchiolitis better as its caused by a virus, but paracetamol can help of they are a bit miserable, amd saline nasal drops can help with a blocked nose.
I'd always say to a parent that yoy know your baby best, so to trust your instinct. If you look at him and are worried, don't hesitate to get him checked, either by gp or if you are really worried, a and e.

Smaller feeds more often that should say sorry!

When DS had bronchiolitis at 3 months, he couldn’t keep breast milk down and was sick several times a day. I had never heard of bronchiolitis but was relieved when it was diagnosed and we knew what we were dealing with.

Thanks so much everyone. I've checked for those breathing difficulty signs and they don't appear to be present. Feeding is going fine and normal so far...
Luckily got through to 111 and they've booked a phone call appt with the GP for me. Just waiting for that and will go from there I think. Hopefully they call back before his bedtime!
So many horrible bugs and viruses put there at the moment.
