Ideas on sweet smelling breath

Dd has a chronic condition and has very regular full blood workups as the meds she is on can cause liver damage. Nothing has ever been raised as a concern, but she always has the most sickly sweet smelling breath. Even straight after cleaning her teeth.

She is 8, so initially I thought it might be because she was still using the kids fruity flavoured toothpaste so I switched her to a minty one but it doesn't seem to have stopped the smell.

She doesn't eat a lot of sweets, or fizzy pop but does drink weak squash (hates the taste of water and admittedly it isn't nice from the taps in this area).

The regular bloods mean diabetes in unlikely, but does anyone else know of any other conditions that might cause it? I am reluctant to speak to the gp at the moment as their default position is to refer me to dd's consultant as they treat everything as related to her health condition which this isn't as I have ready mentioned it and been told no link but trying to get the gp to listen will be a task in itself!

Bumping as diabetes is the only one I can think of.

@Elieza

Bumping as diabetes is the only one I can think of.
I have tried to Google but diabetes is the only thing I can find but all her bloods etc are normal so I don't think it is that unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it)

She does flat out refuse to eat veg so her diet is quietly highly protein and carb based so I do wonder if she is just naturally in a state of ketosis as I know it can be a side effect for people following the keto diet plans. Due to various tests etc when she was younger she has an aversion to foods after Dr's explained they might be making her poorly and we had to cut them out so certain veg, diary etc but also as an undiagnosed asthmatic she would often have attacks and be sick which she associated with food. She is getting better and does eat a minimal amount of veg (more if blended into stuff she will eat) though and she main lines fruits that she is allowed (some she has allergic/sensitivity reactions too)

She is 8, 129cm and 24.5kg but has always tracked between 20 and 25% on the chart thingy. Hospital consultant, whilst not a dieting, seems unfazed and is happy at her progress etc. She is very sporty, dances, swims, plays tennis and never sodding sits still so they feel she is fine. But the smell worries me
