Red bumps on scalp?

Can't get a Dr appointment and was sent a message saying not to even phone u less it's an emergency so was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction, or even if you think a pharmacist might know?

3 yo DS has small red circles on his scalp (photos attached). They look like lots of little cuts that need to scab over but they don't feel like you could pick anything off of them. At a loss as to what they could be. They don't seem to bother him but obviously I don't want to leave them as there's quite a lot so it doesn't seem normal.

I don't mean to sound grim but could they be nit bites op?
Other than that maybe he has just scratched and caught with a finger nail of ran under a branch or something.

DH originally told me not to google as I'd think it was some terrifying disease but now I have I think it could be that 🤢 trying to find anywhere still open to buy a nit comb. I really thought that boys would be more likely to avoid this especially with short hair so naively I hadn't even considered it.

I'm assuming these black specks are the lice?! Oh god, I feel itchy just typing that. The joys of nurseries.

Are they moving? Lice can move quite fast

Supermarkets sell combs and treatments

Metal nitty gritty comb and plenty of conditioner op that will sort it ,the nitty gritty comb removes the eggs as well.

I didn't notice them moving tbh but the pictures do look like photos I've seen online of the bites. Our local supermarket doesn't have a nitty gritty but I can get to a large boots tomorrow morning and have ordered one on Amazon prime too just incase. I'll phone the nursery first thing to let them know incase they need to put an email out to his class.

I didn't like the nitty gritty. Prongs were too long and it dragged at the hair

TheWeeBarra · 08/09/2021 19:21

Would any comb work then? I thought it had to be a specific one to get them out. I've had a good look through his hair and can't see any eggs etc but I'll definitely be doing the conditioner and comb. Do you need to use a special shampoo too?

The nitty gritty drags the hair because it removes the eggs from the hair shaft which is what you need, the plastic combs only remove the lice so are pointless really as you just then have to keep combing everyday so the new lice dont lay more eggs.
Just add some tea tree oil to any shampoo that will help with the scabs at the very least and lots of cheap conditioner

I used a metal comb but not nitty gritty. Any cheap conditioner would work
