For the past few weeks 5 yr old dd has been itching her vagina. I’ve checked her out and there is nothing obvious, no redness or bumps. Looks completely normal to me so I’m stumped. Any ideas? I don’t really want to take her to the gp if I can avoid it

Also suggesting worms. My daughter has had them a few times 🤢 so easy to treat though. Ovex from the chemist

Any real medical concerns for a child intimate areas obviously speak to a GP.

OBVIOUSLY.

Lest us not forgot we are on an open forum and the title of this thread is "5 year old vulva ...." I mean, common.

Could also be thrush, I suffered terribly as a child in hot weather. Also try cotton underwear and avoid trousers, salt baths and thrush cream.

Another good NHS info leaflet for vulvovaginitis in small girls:

Hope she feels better soon, OP! Ovex (over the counter family size banana flavour bottle, ten quid), plain water baths, canesten or Sudocrem and she should be fine 👍

Many people haven't managed to speak to their doctor in the past 15 months.

My 6 year daughter has been seen twice by our GP for this type of issue in the last 6 months. Hers was excruciating painful as well though and requires antibiotics, wasn’t worms. Definitely ditch the bathbombs!
