*Pic included* - is this lip tie?

My 3yo has always had a gap in his teeth and has a lisp. The last few days he's been crying when we have brushed his teeth, I lay him down this morning and asked him to point and show me where it hurts and he pointed to this bit in the middle. I tried to lift his top lip but he was screaming "ouch".
It's never even been on my radar that it's there! I feel really guilty. My 5yo doesn't have it. He was only at the dentist on Monday and they never mentioned it!
Is it lip tie and If so, do I need to do anything?
Thanks

I had mine snipped under GA when I was 10... this was nearly 40 years ago though. I think I had it done to prevent too large a gap between my top two teeth (also had a lisp).

They don’t do anything about lip tie now. Unless there’s significant problems anyway I think.
My little boys broke on it’s own when he’d fallen. X

He still has a gap now in his adult teeth and a slight lisp x

I’ve got that. Always assumed it was normal! I have a small gap between my front teeth but no issues.

Looks like one.
I had mine clipped under local anaesthetic over 40 years ago. I still have a residual tiny lump on my gum which the surgeon said might warrant a second operation but I never bothered.
However when I'm feeling run down it's the part of my mouth where I get ulcers.
I still have gappy top teeth, although my upper wisdom teeth seem to be pushing the front teeth closer together as they start to emerge.

Looks like it. My eldest has one but it's never caused any problems. The dentist said that they could cut it but he ASD and really severe anxiety about any kind of medical procedures. We're going to leave it, he could always change his mind in a few years.

Thanks for the replies.
Do you think that based on the discomfort and the lisp that they would consider it?
Is it something I'd talk to our gp or our dentist about in the first instance?

A lisp in a 3 year old is very common, most grow out of it. A thickened frenulum is sometimes treated in combination with orthodontic braces to get rid of a gap between his adult front teeth.
