I’m looking for a bit more information about the job role of a community nursery nurses, what a day in the life looks like etc.

I’m looking to pursue it as a career, just want to chat to one!

I was a clinical community nursery nurse on a complex care team. Is that the sort of post you are looking at?

I’m a community nursery nurse on my local health visiting team. Sorry for the delayed reply but feel free to ask any questions if this is what you meant?

Hello @MrsB902, yes that’s the role I’m interested in pursuing. I just want to ask what kind of training courses I can do to boost my application for a CNN post? I already have a childcare qualification and experience of working in nursery settings (5 years).

I have also volunteered to help run a baby/toddler group in my local area, would this be a bonus for the CNN role?

And lastly, what kind of interview questions did you get?

Thanks so much!

@Wintercoffee so sorry for my late response, I don’t come on here very often.

If you have a little look at Solihull Parenting Approach online they offer online courses and this is the approach that we use when working with families during support visits. I imagine it’ll be structured slightly differently with the online version being aimed at parents but it would still get you brownie points to be able to show you’ve looked into it and have a good understanding of the approach.

Supporting breastfeeding mums is also a big part of the role so you could maybe look at local groups such as the la leche league to see whether they would be able to support you as a volunteer or offer any training etc? If not have a look at the unicef baby friendly breastfeeding initiative on google 😊

Yeah I came from a nursery nurse background so had worked in several schools and day cares then also worked as a primary school teacher for a few years before changing careers so your experience would definitely be relevant.

As far as I can remember the interview questions were easier than I was expecting! There was a general safeguarding one, a one about how to keep yourself safe whilst lone working, an equality and diversity question and that’s all I can remember sorry. If you do get an interview look up the healthy child program and the NHS 6 core values just in case they ask about those.

It’s an absolutely lovely job so fingers crossed something will come along for you soon.

Most nhs jobs are values based now....so look at the values of the trust you apply for.
The CNN job role in my trust comprises; 2 year reviews ( sometimes 1 year reviews), baby clinic, supporting families with behaviour management, sleep issues, toilet training, infant feeding, weaning and eating issues.....they also link in with local nurseries.

Thanks @Kitkat151 Will have a look at the values, sounds like a great role.
