My daughter is 22 months & she is always poorly either with colds or viral infections.
It's more viral infections....she was poorly 4 weeks ago with a viral infection & now she's started to get poorly again today 😞 every month she's poorly with high temps & bad chesty coughs. I took her hospital 4 weeks ago as she wasn't well with high temp etc & she wasn't wee'ing the doctors said it's because she goes to nursary that's why she's always poorly....she's not been nursary now for 4 weeks & she's poorly again!! How long will this go on for? Any advice please

My first was like that. It’s awful isn’t it? It probably went on until she was about 2. It’s nursery. They just pick everything up. It’ll pass. Very hard though.

Yes, years later we found out she had celiac disease. Hope you find some answers for your little one.

DS was the same...it's entirely "normal" but that doesn't stop it being worrying I know. One of the nursery teachers said to me that it's a good thing because it means that their immune systems are working well (which is what all the temperatures etc are, their body fighting off the infection) and that in the longer term they will be more resilient...but it is so hard at the time isn't it. I tried to keep DS well fed and dosed up with kids' vitamins so that he had some reserves to draw on, but he got alarmingly skinny at one point through not wanting to eat...and we also decided that chocolate was definitely good for you so each time he got ill we bought him his favourite buttons as something to look forward to at least...be gentle with both of you, and if lying on the sofa watching Kiri and Lou on a loop is the best option, then do that Smile

Thanks for replying, yes it is worrying but I understand it will be good for the immune system. Doesn't help I'm a worrier anyway 🙄

Yes, all of mine were when at nursery..

Yep! Nursery is like a giant Petri dish for all germs. It's good that they are building up their immune system, but isn't nice at the time for babes...or the zombie parents involved 😴🥱

Just thought I would come back on & tell you she's poorly again!! Every months now it's happening 😞

I believe 12 infections a year is considered normal in early childhood. It’s grim though. I’m up cuddling my poorly baby who started nursery last month.

Roch91 · 16/09/2021 01:59

@Emelene I'm doing the same. My daughter goes nursary & the GP says that's the problem. Well hope it helps the immune system in the future hey?
