Weird rash on child’s arm

My 9 year old DD had what I thought was an odd small bruise on her shoulder that I first noticed yesterday morning. it’s gradually got bigger since then (see photo) and looks like a purple/dark red rash. Skin is smooth to touch, doesn’t hurt or itch. No visible sign of a bite and she does not recall banging it. I did the glass test and rash does not disappear. Does this look like a cause for concern? No fever, but a bit more tired than usual and did have a sickly headache yesterday evening….
111 advised about an hour ago to get it checked out at A&E which is where she is now with DH but it’s a very long wait and just looking for
some reassurance in the meantime that I’m freaking out unnecessarily and that it’s probably nothing to worry about…

In which, you do have a problem on your hand.

Not so much that she sucked it (I remember doing the same!) but more of what she was prepared to do (wait in a&e) in order not to tell you

No problem here. DD has spent quite a lot of time in and out of hospital in the past couple of years due to various issues and is pretty phobic about blood tests as a result, so am very confident she wouldn’t put herself through that just to avoid confessing to something self inflicted.

I'm pretty sure that's self-inflicted. You'll find out for sure sooner or later.

I get that exact ‘bruising’ if I scratch too hard through clothes!

much the same as yesterday, thankfully hasn’t spread any further. Will keep a close eye on it other next couple of days.
