Vomiting/no wet nappies

Our family has been struck down with what I think is norovirus, starting with DD1 age 3.5 who vomited for 18 hours and is now back to her old self. DD2 starting vomiting at 10pm last night and has not stopped since. Every hour, longest stretch (once) 2 hours and more recently every 30 mins. She can’t keep water/breast milk down and is sleeping in between vomiting all day. No wet nappy since 10am.

Have made squash ice lollies that are currently freezing and will try some rehydration sachet in a calpol syringe when she wakes up but she can’t keep anything down so I’m not confident this will be any different.

When should I be seriously concerned ?

If she's not having wet nappies, then she's already dehydrated. Call 111 or take her to A & E.

You poor things.

How old is she?
When you say no wet nappies since 10am, did she have a wet nappy at 10am and how wet?
How is her fontanelle?

Wingingthis · 15/08/2021 15:30

Sorry forgot to say she’s 15 months. I think her fontinelle is gone now? And it was slight wet at 10 not as much as it would usually be :(

Ah ok not as small as I was picturing. However I think it’s worth a call to 111 yes. They may advise A&E simply because little ones can go downhill fast, but see what they say. Good luck

I would definitely call 111 in this situation.

Cleverpolly3 · 15/08/2021 15:59

No wet nappy in a 15 month old baby for six hours is a concern especially if she’s sick again and that will mean again no fluid absorbed especially if it’s immediately after drinking it

If she can’t keep anything down she will get dehydrated quickly.
Ring 111

Call 111 and ask them if it might be sepsis; prolonged vomiting and only one wee/wet nappy in eight hours are both possible signs.

Try giving juice/water through a syringe. 5ml every 10 mins & see how she gets on....this is what the hospital will do
