Hi everyone. Dd has consistently not stopped being sick for the past four hours. We have tried her with fluids but she can’t keep them down either. She hasn’t got a temperature but seems hot and clammy. She is now throwing up a green liquid . Nhs website states to ring gp if vomit is green. Would anyone else ring 111 or wait to see how she Gets on

If she can’t keep fluids down, give them a call. Better safe than sorry.

nameisnotimportant · 18/07/2021 02:48

Yes give them a call now. Do you have diorolyte ? While waiting on the phone, just giving 5ml of water or diorolyte every 5-10 minutes. Keep an eye on wet nappies. Hope things settle down.

Read an article just last night that norovirus is doing the rounds a lot more at the minute as a by effect of lockdown and increased sanitation
Worth calling 111 to be safe. Hope she feels better soon

nameisnotimportant · 18/07/2021 03:29

Also please keep in mind that hand sanitizer doesn't kill a few of the gastro bugs, so after cleaning up any vomit make sure you wash your hands with soap and hot water, to try and avoid getting sick yourself.

I forgot to mention she had a minor bump to the head around seven o’clock but seemed fine after monitoring her. She’s had worse bumps to the head before(typicall toddler) and has never reacted this way. Could it be linked x

Yes it could. 111 for sure. 999 if there is any worsening of her symptoms

harverina · 18/07/2021 04:38

Yes please call 111 - or if you have a children’s hospital I would err on the side of caution and take her there.

I’m sure she will be ok, but no harm getting her checked.

M2AL · 18/07/2021 09:04

Thanks everyone 111 referred us to a and e she’s been sick two more times this morning

I am glad you called. I hope your DD gets better soon

M2AL · 18/07/2021 18:04

@TheAussieProject only just got home. Dd has had a ct scan came back clear. But was sick a further four times in hospital . Sugar levels really low and has had sickness medication. But she seems so much better already

TheAussieProject · 18/07/2021 21:56

That's good news.
When it happened to us during a holiday in Spain, the doctor who came to the hotel, said to not give milk anymore, but to offer lemonade with a teaspoon, and one teaspoon every five minutes to increase fluids and sugar.

harverina · 19/07/2021 00:12

I’m so pleased she had a scan. I didn’t want to scare you, however, one of my DD’s had sickness as a result of a serious head injury and I just wanted to you get things checked out.

Hope she is on the mend now

TheAussieProject · 19/07/2021 21:22

@M2AL how is she today?

M2AL · 19/07/2021 22:03

@TheAussieProject she’s been sick twice but has managed to keep her dinner down so hopefully she is on the mend . Thankyou for asking

Sounds like a nasty bug :( poor kid, really feel for her. Sickness in this heat is even worse than sickness in normal weather. And that’s pretty grim!

My DD has been sick this evening.. I’m feeling anxious 🥴

M2AL · 20/07/2021 22:56

@Bobholll she’s non stop been sick again tonight . Going to see what the doctors say in the morning , hope your dd is okay x

TheAussieProject · 21/07/2021 11:18

Oh no @M2AL . Let us know what the doctor says .

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 21/07/2021 11:35

Sugar added todiluting juice or dioraylte with sugar added is best for kids when sick, it used to be lucozade when I was little. Stops blood sugar from dropping. The sugar is for such a short time teeth will be fine. 5mls or sips from a straw every 5/10 mins also. However it sounds like your baby needs more than that op, I hope she’s ok.

Ozanj · 21/07/2021 11:40

Try ice lollies

TheAussieProject · 21/07/2021 18:52

@M2AL I hope she has been seen by now.

AvaCallanach · 21/07/2021 18:57

Is she pooping normally? Ask if they have ruled out intussusception.

M2AL · 21/07/2021 19:13

She’s not been sick so far today, she’s been heaving though and now has diarrhoea but doesn’t want to eat. We’ve been given dioralyte today so hopefully that helps. Thanks everyone we are just keeping an eye on her x

OP posts:
TheAussieProject · 21/07/2021 19:22

If she doesn't want to eat, giving her a lollipop like a chupa chups or similar is a good way to give sugar without inducing vomit.
A one off won't create a habit or damage teeth.

HSHorror · 21/07/2021 21:54

Have you been giving milk.
As that can start it off again.
We do dry toast or crackers.

Obviously depending on age.

Mine was sick last night and we havent even bee anywhere in a week!

masha17 · 27/07/2021 20:06

OP - how is your daughter? Green vomit can be extremely serious, hopefully she is now better and it's a one off but take straight to A&E if it occurs again.
