Adenoids, congestion and chronic stomach pains

My DS12 is awaiting a hospital appointment since his chronic stomach pains have flared up since the weather got warmer in June. It was noticeably worse when he had severe congestion from hayfever.

He is on paracetamol twice a day, has a probiotic and is using hayfever medication. He still has bad, sporadic stomach pains that are worse in the morning but is less congested. Nothing in his diet seems to set them off and they vary on a daily basis but they are still here. They first started in 2018 but we drew a blank then too.

He's just had antibiotics but there's no change from that. He does have ASD and is rather anxious but I suspect a physical cause. Could something like a post-nasal drip be causing this?

He's missed 3 days of school last week and will miss 2 this week (hospital being one of them).

Anybody else also have a child with similar symptoms?

My ds gets very upset stomach when he has post nasal drip from hay-fever, cold, teething etc. He is also autistic coincidentally.

Is there anything you have done that helps with the symptoms? Thing is we aren't sure what the actual cause is?

Is he better in the holidays? Could it be anxiety (was for my dd)?

We think that anxiety is a problem but it still happens even in the holidays. While we are considering some low-dose anxiety medication we suspect there is a physical problem. We are going to go down the elimination diet route next - remove gluten and see if there is an improvement.

@SamusIsAGirl

With dd we went down removing gluten, diary, scans etc. All that happened was she discovered the only gluten free product she liked was chocolate covered rice cakes and there were no alternative milks. Grin
Eventually they diagnosed abdominal migraines due to anxiety. She was better in the holidays, but not totally free from them, especially towards the end.

Hope you get some answers.

His dad and family have a history of migranes - abdominal migranes often have tenuous or absent headaches. The sudden warm spell and sunshine was the trigger this time. At least now we have something to go as chances are the blood tests will be negative - hospital is tomorrow.
