We’ll probably pop to the pharmacist tomorrow to see if they can advise but does anyone have any idea?
It’s on 16 y/o DD, she has got mildly sensitive skin.

Is it itchy, could it be a fungal infection like ringworm.

DogsSausages · 21/06/2021 18:49

I would probably take the neck lace off in case that's aggravating her skin

Mumshappy · 21/06/2021 18:50

It looks like pityriasis roscea. Is it anywhere else?

DowntonCrabby · 21/06/2021 18:51

Thanks for responding @DogsSausages, it’s not at all itchy or bothering her at all.
I’ll google fungal infections. Envy

Good shout, the necklace is only a couple of weeks old so possibly aggravating.

Nowhere else @Mumshappy

The ones on her neck do look a little ring wormy, but usually it itches.

SpamIAm · 21/06/2021 18:55

Just based on the shape and clearly defined edge of think some kind of fungal infection.

Cornishmumofone · 21/06/2021 18:58

I agree with @Mumshappy It looks exactly like pityriasis.

DowntonCrabby · 21/06/2021 19:00

Thanks all, i’ll take her in to the chemist tomorrow. Will they be able to give something if it is fungal or they likely just suggest a GP app?

Pityrisis would definitely fit with the larger patch on her chest. She feels generally fine, but reading up it wouldn’t always show viral symptoms.

She’s been fairly stressed with non-exams and had provisional results yesterday- we’re in Scotland, so if she’s felt a bit off she’s out it down to that, I’d say she hasn’t had much appetite over maybe the last 3-4 weeks.

Wbeezer · 21/06/2021 19:04

I was also going to say pityriasis rosea

DogsSausages · 21/06/2021 19:05

They may suggest an anti fungal cream, maybe one with a low dose of steroid in it too I am not a dermatologist but that's what we used. Other posters will know more if its pityriawis which I have never heard of but googled it, thanks for the info.

If they think it’s fungal they will give you an over the counter cream.
GlamGiraffe · 21/06/2021 19:11

It looks like tinea versicolour. A fungal infection which worsens due the fungus normally present in the skin over growing from either warm weather or possibly hormonal changes. Treatment is with either antifungal creams of anti fungal shampoos and body washes can be more successful. Has it only occured since the sweattier weather by any chance?

DowntonCrabby · 21/06/2021 19:14

@GlamGiraffe yes, she says just in the last week, we only noticed today, she didn’t think to mention it!

custardbear · 21/06/2021 19:18

I thought urticaria or ring worm - go to the pharmacy though as it's impossible to diagnose here

DowntonCrabby · 21/06/2021 19:21

We’ll definitely go tomorrow, thanks again all. I’ll be seeing rash pictures in my dreams tonight.

My son has this and has dandruff shampoo to put on his skin but keeps forgetting. We almost get on top of it then he forgets again. Does anyone know of a good shower gel which would help?
