The staining is only on the bottom. Teeth cleaned twice a day, only drinks milk or water, diet healthy but with treats.
Dentist said they need cleaning by them but dd was hysterical so couldn’t be done.
What could have caused this??? She has clenil
Twice daily, any help please, will this effect adult teeth, a kid has mentioned them and she’s really upset but still no joy with getting her to the dentist.

What did the dentist say it was from?

Sorry, but that looks like plaque.

Have you tried disclosing tablets to stain plaque red or blue?

Ridingthegravytrain · 17/06/2021 17:02

It’s tartar buildup causing discolouration. I’m fastidious with my kids teeth, one gets this one doesn’t. It’s down to oral bacteria and everyone is different.

I have an ultrasonic dental scraper like dentists use and have to remove it weekly as well as regular flossing. If it’s on the baby teeth is will likely come on adult teeth too. You’re not doing anything wrong

cliffdiver · 17/06/2021 17:03

Yep agree it looks like plaque. Does she floss?

Antibiotics can stain teeth.

Squiffy01 · 17/06/2021 17:13

My son is getting this 2.5.
Like you only water and milk, great diet but with some treats.
Brush twice a day for two minutes sometimes longer (we time).
Dentist said it was tartar and didn’t seem concerned said it might even brush away as tartar is soft unlike plaque.
Said there was nothing they could do about it and that they don’t clean teeth until around 10 Shock.

It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it might be calcium deposits. My daughter has this and the dentist said it’s probably because she sleeps with her mouth open. He didn’t seem concerned - he removes it every 6 months when we have a checkup.

Dddccc · 17/06/2021 17:29

Electric tooth brush and afterbevery meal brush teeth

Dddccc · 17/06/2021 17:29

After every

Thank you, a dentist once told me plaque looks like mashed potatoes? This is brown, it looks a bit like she’s a smoker

My dd sleeps with her mouth open too, she also has bad breath occasionally, I put that down to her not having enough fluid. Her water bottle comes home almost full most days

We have just started to floss, she has had a few courses of antibiotics, one for a few months

Tartar (or calculus) is hardened plaque and is much harder to get off. It looks just like your daughters photo, won’t come off with brushing. Plaque can be brushed away and flossed.

So the dentist can remove it? If I can get her to open her mouth Sad

So you get her to rinse her mouth out after taking the clenil? I only recently found out you are supposed to rinse your mouth after steroid inhalers despite having used them for over 25 years(!) and have very yellowy teeth unfortunately

cliffdiver · 17/06/2021 18:52

If she's had several courses of antibiotics then it may be discolouration from that. Perhaps mention to the dentist?

DD2 had some discolouration from several intensive courses of antibiotics, sadly dentist said nothing can be done until she's 18.

SchoolRunEscapee · 17/06/2021 19:03

@Ridingthegravytrain can you recommend the ultrasonic scraper you use please.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 17/06/2021 19:13
Something like this

oralclean.co.uk/products/oralcleanâ„¢-ultrasonic-tooth-cleaner?currency=GBP&variant=38295137681586&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjaKv1qGf8QIVmLPtCh2MpAvAEAQYASABEgITpvD_BwE
Would that help my dd or does the dentist need to do it?? Is it just preventative?

Ridingthegravytrain · 17/06/2021 19:17

No it removes the tartar. My dentist has never removed my child’s I don’t all at home. No bother just careful as the pick is sharp

Ridingthegravytrain · 17/06/2021 19:18

DO it not dont

Mangofandangoo · 17/06/2021 19:34

Antibiotics can't stain teeth - could it be that?
