2 year old teeth - dummy?

My DDs teeth have a arched gap between the top and bottom set (attached a pic) She is 2 years old - do you think its the dummy causing it? She only has the dummy for sleeping and car journeys.

I do plan to take the dummy away soon but havent braved it just yet

Looks like it, it’s reversible if you stop soon

All my dc kept their dummy until 3/3 and a half. Ds's teeth dropped into place very quickly.. None had any issues at all using their dummy in the scenarios you say you do. Better than a distressed toddler not understanding why the person they love and trust most has taken away their comforter.. Quite awful imo!! Better to wait until they are old enough to bin it them self. Maybe a bit of persuasion needed but when they agree they are too old it's an effortless event!!

Yes it's the dummy. Very common in toddlers who have dummies to have an over jet or open bite.

She has an open bite and that is 100% caused by the dummy.

Gradually take the dummy away. If taken away now it shouldn't be a long term problem with her adult teeth but it can be.

Completely agree. I'm a dental nurse and DS 23 months still has his dummy. I've always said I will not take it completely away until he understands why I have taken it away.

He isn't allowed it all the time. Say if he is playing or out walking. Naps, bedtime and when he is upset and looking for comfort.

Thank you for the replies!
Tried going dummy free last night and DD took is surprisingly well. Didnt ask for it once and a 5 minute cry in bed while me and partner popped in and out.

She slept throught the night which has astonished me! Only asked for it twice today (didnt give it) and now shes asleep again without it - fingers crossed she sleeps through again but we will see
