10mo EEG scan abnormal

Hi wondering if any other parents have been through the same. Quick back story my LO is 10mo happy little baby was playing the other day and we were recording her as she has learnt to shake her head to say no. While she was playing/excited all of a sudden it looked like she had a seizure (head went side to side, eyes rolled slightly and arms went very straight) only lasted 3secs max then she went straight back to normal playing and happy as if nothing happened. We took her straight to A&E they checked her over also showed doctors the video which they said we don’t think it a seizure but it’s not normal her actions and would like to monitor her so we stayed over night then next day they done a EEG which has came back slightly abnormal in her right temple. So they want to do a MRI but doctor said they ain’t worried about her as all of her other tests for e.g blood pressure, oxygen, sugars and development are all clear. So now we are waiting for her scan but I am so worried as they said it’s not epilepsy as the scan was only the tiniest bit abnormal but there is obviously something.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Yes of course it's worrying. I've had experience with EEGs & MRIs with my son when he was much younger. I hope you don't have to wait long for the MRI, did they just say they would call you once it's scheduled or is it going to happen quickly?

This sounds very scary for you. EEG unfortunately is a very tricky test to know what to do with results, and you shouldn't assume something medically serious is going to be found. What happens over time is usually the most important guide for any kind of "episode" in small children, so only having a single one and no other concerns uncovered by a detailed checkup can hopefully be reassuring. But the waiting can be horrible for families and you are certainly not alone in that.

Thank you for your replies. I got a phone call yesterday to say her mri is tomorrow morning so glad it’s quicker than expected. They haven’t said if we will get results tomorrow I hope we do or within a few days. Yesterday she done it again the strange movement twice only last a few seconds again but we have wrote down what time and that it happened again while playing to see if their is a pattern as to when it’s happening.

I'm pleased you don't have to wait long for the MRI. In terms of practical advice, do take a bottle and/food for when she wakes up from (presumably) the GA.
Recording frequency of the episodes is important & also taking videos.
Wishing you the very best of luck for answers and a good outcome.

@BlackSwan thanks for your reply! I am going to take plenty of milk and food just incase we are there longer than expected. Unfortunately it is very hard to us to get it on video as it’s only last 2-3seconds as she isn’t getting them in a cluster so by the time we pick our mobile up it’s finished we got it on video before as she was playing (dancing and shaking her head saying no which she has just learnt) so it was just luck it happened when we were recording.
