Dd has had diarrhea for 10+ days

Poor dd has had a bad tummy for 10 days, she’s 15 and severely autistic, gp has said to ride it out and to get a sample but getting her to comply to a sample is tricky (she won’t let me near her). Dd eats anything she can lay her hands on and a few weeks ago ate raw pork, I’m unsure if that the cause or if it’s something else? She’s fine in herself but as soon as she eats it goes straight through her. I’m worried as she’s very skinny anyway and can’t really afford to lose more weight.

It’s now the weekend so I can’t get her to the gp. Should I call 111 tomorrow to try and get seen at the hospital?

When did you see your gp, in the last couple of days or week ago?

If last week, then call 111. 15 days is unusual. Have you tried giving her Dioralyte to replace lost fluids and electrolytes?

Does she have any other symptoms op?
Whilst my LO is only two we had this along with sickness and turned out to be a kidney infection

I had this once and it turned out I had developed a severe gluten allergy. It started about a week after finishing a course of antibiotics.

Sorry posted too soon.

I would see the gp / phone 111, that's a long time to be poorly. The risk of dehydration is pretty high.

Hope you get it figured out soon.

She has no other symptoms, or none that are apparent, she’s not very verbal and has a high pain threshold, she says she has no pain, no head ache etc.., she has no temperature and has not lost her appetite, she’s drinking plenty (as long as I don’t mention drinking).

I called 111 and my gp gave me a call, he said I have to bribe her to get a sample as it’s really important, he thinks there’s a high chance she has Trichinosis from eating raw pork which can be treated once diagnosed. So I have all weekend to collect a sample to hand in on Monday. Dr seem more concerned about me and how I’m coping because I am struggling with her (it’s a continues battle stopping her from eating everything in sight), also I spent today in hospital myself as I have my own ongoing health issues.

I have wondered if it’s a gluten intolerance, she has had bouts of diarrhea before but usually only last a few days, she has loads of small white spots on her arms which I was told could be a sign? She had bread for dinner tonight (a small hot dog and a hash brown) which only stayed in her ten minutes, she has been to the loo 5 times since dinner.

Oh OP this sounds really tough. Might be worth putting something in the toilet above the water to make a kind of shelf if that makes sense, to allow you to get a sample without needing to change your daughter's routine of going to the toilet. Just don't let her flush!
