My daughter has been sick in the morning once a week for the past 3-4 weeks , i’ve made an appointment with the doctor for next week , but am worried about what could be causing this , she does have a headache when this happens so i’m wondering if it could be related to migraines? any thoughts on what it could be ,? TIA

The time before today the sickness went on for 4 hours until she could not bring anything else up and just kept retching,,, :(

Is it always the same day of the week?

ginfixx · 11/06/2021 09:35

It’s been on a Friday or a Sunday morning

My dd who is 15 also suffers from this. She also has IBS and both flare up when she’s stressed, could this be the case with your dd? Does she has exams or assessments at school?

My dd doesn’t feel outwardly stressed or worried but vomiting and tummy troubles seems to be how her body deals with stress. When she was doing her year 11 assessments in place of GCSEs she was being sick on a daily basis.

ginfixx · 11/06/2021 09:40

@Rshard Ah that’s tough , i’m not sure about but maybe ,? it’s happened twice after she’d just had her breakfast, so i don’t know ,?

Could it be a food intolerance? Does she has a particular food the day before, so Thursday/Saturday?

Not sure how old she is but is she happy enough in school? Could it be anxiety over a certain lesson/return to school on Monday?

No experience sorry, just making suggestions.

MarjorieBouvier · 11/06/2021 09:42

Hate to say it, but at 14, has she ruled out pregnancy?

Tlollj · 11/06/2021 09:46

I’d guess she’s worried about something that happens on these days. I was at school with a girl who was sick every Monday morning just worrying about the week ahead.

Tlollj · 11/06/2021 09:46

Don’t think you’re sick one or two days a week if you’re pregnant. But I could be wrong.

ginfixx · 11/06/2021 10:18

Thanks for your responses , She’s definitely not pregnant , but it may be a food intolerance ? I don’t think it’s anxiety either ,,, ?

My son has been sick every day for the last month as well, all I’m getting from the drs is that it’s “anxiety” called them twice and they’ve said the same thing

WaterBottle123 · 11/06/2021 10:23

When I was a teen I vomited after breakfast a couple of times a week for a couple of months due to anxiety. It could definitely be that...mum just asked if I was pregnant Hmm

Hi OP. We had similar with DD (now 13) a few years ago although not quite as regular.

It's improved massively but she still gets occasional flare ups. GP wasn't much help but she'd a little light on it and after keeping a good tisry for a while the only possible pattern we saw was either too much lactose in one day (cows milk on cereal, glass of milk with it then later on ice cream say. She loves cows milk!). Also too much dishes with veg like onions, garlic, peppers and tomatoes (all part of Poison Ivy family apparently and it's quite common fir them to irritate our tums).

ginfixx · 11/06/2021 10:25

@Looptheloops that’s bad that they’ve just dismissed it as anxiety - have they asked to see him face to face ,?

My DD had migraines. She was too young for it to manifest itself as an obvious headache. She would be sick for a day. At first I assumed it was a bug but it started to become obvious it wasn't because none of her classmates or siblings had anything. She had to have a paed consultant's checkup for something unrelated, so I was able to ask and it was migraines. The trick was getting ibuprofen into her ASAP while she could still digest it. If that hadn't worked they'd have put her on a low daily dose of ibuprofen for a couple of months to break the cycle.

Doh posted too soon.

So we've switched to part/part cows and oat milk for cereal and carefully planning meals for veg variety and no two consecutive days of trouble veg, Look up low FODMAP foods.

I hope things calm down for her soon, it's rubbish for them isn't it? Sad

I was with my first, hence why I said it.

Nope no face 2 face, not even a video call, and he is only 7, it’s been pretty much every day but they say because no other symptoms it’s “anxiety”, he had to have 3 weeks off school as he was vomiting but now they insist on him being there whether he is vomiting or not
