Small anginoma removed under GA?

DS, 16 months has a small anginoma on his head. Problem is he keeps catching it and it keeps bleeding. A few times now we've got him up in the morning and there's blood on the pillow or sheets. He's caught it in the day too and has a twin who I'm scared of going to pull it.

We can have it removed but because of his age it's under GA.

Anyone got any experience? When eldest had his last scan it was I light GA without full ventilation, is it possible they'd do that rather than full ventilation given its only a small spot?

or do we leave it and continue with the bleeding and hope it gets better?

The need for ventilation has not much at all to do with the depth of anaesthetic and the term ‘light GA’ isn’t really a thing (even for something like a scan rather than surgery you still have to be deep enough to tolerate an airway going in). There are all sorts of other things that influence the need for ventilation under anaesthesia and the person doing the anaesthetic is the best person to ask about what they’ll actually be doing. Broadly though someone having minor peripheral surgery, which is what this sounds like, would get a day-case type anaesthetic (regardless of whether muscle relaxation and ventilation is needed) if that helps. Hope it goes well.

Children far younger than yours have GA’s, so if it needs dealing with I wouldn’t think twice about it.
My eldest had two lots of surgery under 12 months so I understand your concern, but getting it over and done with is the best way forward.

DS had surgery at 10 months and he stopped talking. He literally woke up and would make any noise beyond a sore bleat and utterly lost what limited speech he had. I know his wider issues are more complex but I think that surgery over many other scared us.

Sorry light GA isn't the right term, I'm just a Mom but I remember them saying it didn't need to go as deep and it was partly because he wouldn't be under v long?

The anginoma doesn't massively affect them but obv it keep bleeding is a nuisance and I'm worried it'll bother them more as they get older. So do we just wait until they're older?

And I know younger babies go under for a lot more, DS was ventilated from birth and had his first op at 13 days but that's making us more cautious I think
