School hand sanitiser is hurting daughters hands

Daughter (7) is complaining her hands hurt from hand sanitiser at school. They are a bit red from a sports club she attended there today. Does anyone know any sensitive ones?

I work in a school and a few children have had sensitive soaps prescribed from a doctor that help and also hand creams to use after washing hands. I would recommend avoiding sanitiser and encourage hand washing with soap as hand sanitiser can be very harsh on skin. We aren't allowed to give children hand sanitiser in our school for this reason. The only way they can use it, is if parents provide it. Also encourage your child to ensure her hands are completely dry after washing as this can cause break outs too.

I’m a teacher, we’ve had a few children with sore hands from the sanitiser (our school one is very harsh in skin IMO - I don’t use it for that reason). They can either bring their own or just wash hands instead when it’s a time that the others sanitise rather than washing. Carex do a hand sanitiser that I’ve found isn’t harsh on my skin, plus it has the added bonus of there being a Love Heart one which smells gorgeous!

Brilliant thanks! Great to know there are some options. Will have a word with school about bringing own in. X

Carex do one that has aloe in it (it’s a green gel) I’ve struggled with the schools one but found this to be much gentler on my skin. As others have said school should be happy for her to take her own or even take her own soap. Good luck
