Can anyone help identify this lump in my child's mouth?

He is 3.

We noticed it a couple of weeks ago, it's showing no signs of growing or of going away.

Conscious we will be hard pushed to get a Dr's appointment right now.

Any ideas? It's quite raised, sometimes looks more white than pink.

Does he suck his thumb or lip? Or still have bottles?

catmg · 08/03/2021 18:31

No thumb or lip sucking or bottles, and no recent bump or injury that it could be traced back to. It's a bit of a mystery. He's not complaining about it.

Take him to a dentist to be diagnosed.

Looks like a saliva/mucous blister - my child had one and dentist said it was harmless and would only need treatment if it didn’t disappear by itself (which it did).

It looks like a mucocele. I had one and it did go eventually. Was huge at one point.

My daughter had a mucosele and had to have it removed. Was a small op and only 1 stitch. She had it done at 5yrs old. No scar

I think a a mucocele as well. My child had one at that age, it did take months to go away on it's own, but if it is a oucolele, it is harmless.

Thank you all very much for commenting. I have googled your suggestions now and think you're right - a mucocele. I didn't know what to look for previously, and really appreciate your help.
