UTI/Overactive bladder/habit/something else??

DD just turned 4 (end of December). No health issues.

3 week ago she got what I thought was a UTI, she was running to pee every 20 minutes and sometimes crying that she wasn't sure if she was done or not, but no pain or anything. GP prescribed an antibitotic and she took the full course over a week. She was still running to pee every 20 minutes but it did seem to improve slightly - until this week.

Now shes getting up a few times a night to pee, has "clusters" of time when she'll want to go pee every 5 minutes and never goes more than 30 minutes. She will stop doing fun things to go pee - like watching a movie or being on the trampoline.

I'll be calling the GP again on Monday but does anyone have any idea of what this could be? The only other thing was she was pulling at the crotch of her tights/leggings and saying that it felt like her underwear was up there. The GP also prescribed a worm medicine to rule that out. She still pulling but that isn't as bad.

Was the urine tested for glucose? She should really have a quick finger prick blood test in the GPs to rule out type one diabetes. Otherwise, it might just be habit. Does she drink juices or just water and milk? Juice can irritate the bladder a bit I think. The GP should be able to give advice to help.

Did they take a sample and grow the bacteria? Sounds like a UTI and she needs a different antibiotic.

Sorry - didn’t realise I had replies.

The GP said there was no sugar in her urine so no diabetes. Should she had a finger prick test as well?

She only drinks water (milk is a struggle!)

The sample was grown and was clear.

I’m due to call the GP back tomorrow and let her know how DD is doing (no real change)
and she’s going to prescribe another antibiotic and refer to a paediatrician.
