6yo DS painful verruca

Hiya,

I've read loads of threads but just wanted some advice. DS (6) has had a verruca since the first lockdown. We've tried to treat it with the freezing stick/ pen, filing it down after a bath, and a cream from the chemist but it hasn't helped at all. It's now super painful to walk on (it's on his heel) when he's in shoes, less so in slippers, but he won't put his heel on the floor and complains of pins and needles. I'm fairly sure he's not being contrary as it really does seem to hurt.

With that in mind I called the GP last week and spoke to the practice nurse. Obviously they can't see him and all treatment is on hold because of covid. She said it would just go after a couple of years, but given the amount of pain it's causing him I'm just a bit worried.

I've seen about taping it up, so we're going to try that, but any other suggestions or advice would be gratefully received.

Ring your doctor back and ask for the paint they can prescribe?

Try nail varnish, it worked on my DD's verruca that hadn't responded to anything else. It was quick and painless, it dries it right up. Worth a try

Is it an option to see a private chiropodist? As a 8-9 year old I had very painful verrucas on the inside edge of my heel, making it painful to walk. I saw a chiropodist for months before he cut them out. Even so, as a result I still walk slightly on the outer edge of one foot, 30 years later.

Duct tape . Duct tape . Duct tape.
It beats every single treatment in clinical trials. You can watch a summary of the studies here
nutritionfacts.org/video/duct-tape-and-wart-removal/

and which tape works better here

It works @Cakeweek

Thank you @Cormoran it's amazing! It's brought loads of little black dots to the surface. I took it off and changed it last night and it seems so much better already

I am glad smile
And the best thing is that it is pain-free, compared to the acids, freezing, blades, .... and it will be a lot quicker.
Thanks for updating!

I got salicylic/lactic acid from chemists. Every night file, apply acid & tape.

Got rid of them.

PullingAtTeeth · 15/03/2021 19:47

Just out of interest - what do you do worth the duct tape? Blummin marvellous us for all sorts!!

Cormoran · 15/03/2021 20:23

You cover the beast and let it die of suffocation.
Apply the duct tape - the same as all the American movie serial killer one or electrical tape is good as well - covering the verruca, whenever it falls off, replace and then it will be gone.
Watch the short video that summarise the science behind I posted further up, because believe it or not, it has actually been tested in clinical trials!

Lockdownbear · 15/03/2021 20:33

Op if duct tape doesn't do it, try the podiatrist and get them dry needle it.

I had one on my foot for over 15 years that is what eventually got rid of it.
