Red in faeces, tomato sauce?

My daughter has noticed red in her pooh a couple of times recently she says but I told her to leave it for me to see (she kept flushing it before). So I had a look tonight and her pooh was very solid but had a defined red streak in it. I think I said last time, she'd eaten something red so not to worry too much.
She's had a bit of tomato sauce today but that's about it.
Would TS cause something like this?
Sorry for the TMI.

It's incredibly difficult to get through to my GP at the moment but do you think she needs to be seen?

There's no other symptoms like tummy aches etc.

Tomato sauce wouldn't make a red streak in the poo. Tomato skins can. You need to look at what she's eaten in the last couple of days, not today.

I think it depends on the colour of it, fresh blood colour vs browner which means older blood. If it's fresh bright red colour it could just be that she's straining a bit. I think there's info online, maybe read up and keep an eye on it if it happens again.

Also you could call 111 for advice. Although I think NHS online has info about blood in poo.

It was quite a bright red, not dark Fabulous. Yes, Good idea. I could look at the website.

As you say it was "very solid" it sounds like she could be a bit constipated and has been straining a bit.

Try and get her to drink more water, maybe some fruit juice, and eat soft fruits like pears, plums etc.
