Internal vaginal irritation

Hi,
My 7 year old little girl has been struggling really badly with itchiness just inside.
We've seen the GP 3 times and they insist the only 'solution' is Cortisol. I'm very reluctant to use/allow this at her age as the information available regarding steroids with children is very concerning. We've tried every non steroid cream possible!
(bathing in treated water, bepanthen, E45 cream, cool packs to relieve the inflammation, etc etc)
No suggestion any of the GP's actually understand what the problem might be and so far are refusing to refer us to a paediatrician.
Home hygiene is excellent, no towel sharing between the family, her personal hygiene is good and of course we're being and have been very careful for ages.
I feel very guilty for her suffering and like Im letting her down not being able to solve this....
Has anyone encountered a similar issue and found a good treatment that could help?....
Please...

Tried yoghurt?

Worms? They can cause irritation.

Worms v likely - vaginal irritation is a classic symptom for little girls.

And change GP - they sound crap!

Another echoing threadworms. Classic symptoms. Make sure you treat everyone in the household. If it's not, it's certainly worth excluding.

Have you treated for worms? That would be my first go to tbh.
