Baby drool rash

My 4 month old drools so much and it's causing a rash under her chin.

She has no teeth yet but has been drooling for ages, so much that she soaks her neckline through every couple of hours. I'm changing her a lot through the day as bibs don't seem to help, they just soak through too.

Any advice from anyone on this - best bibs to avoid such a soaking and how to prevent the rash?

Worried it's making her uncomfortable! Not sure this much drool is normal?!

Thanks

Ah I remember it well. I think some kids are just more prone to it than others - DS1 never had a problem, DS2 drooled so much we needed bibs that had a waterproof layer in them so his clothes wouldn't wet through, and his whole chin would be a big red dry patch. He's now 7 and still in the winter he gets a red rash under his bottom lip where he licks it - he says it's not sore though if that sets your mind at rest!

The only thing that works for his drool-rashes has always been plain vaseline - it won't hurt a tiny baby if they swallow it, and it is a barrier between the drool and the skin. I did use lansinoh a couple of times when he was very tiny and I had it to hand while nursing, but it was so sticky it wasn't as easy to spread thinly as vaseline. Good luck and hope your DD's rashes clear up soon!

Weleda do a special skin cream for harsh weather for babies, it's in a yellow tube, it is also amazing for drool rash.

Thanks so much both! Will give the Vaseline and waleda a try!

Vaseline is what worked for mine. I had to reapply it over his chin all through the day though it was a right pain! But it did work.
Used big thick neckerchief type bibs and changed them a few times when bad
