Okay so this is a little tmi but yesterday night my 3 year old was sitting on the sofa with his nappy off as he had just had a bath. I turned my back for a moment to get his pyjamas and he had pulled his foreskin back quite hard by the looks of it, it started to bleed and I was panicking but I stopped the bleeding and afterwards he seemed fine within himself so I put him to bed that night and I phoned the GP this morning - reluctantly as she's not the greatest GP. She agreed to see him and I took him over, she pulled back his foreskin to have a look and she said that he had pulled it back quite hard but I didn't need to do anything as there was no damage and she gave me an antibiotic cream. The thing is, now that I'm sitting back thinking about it she didn't really explain where the bleeding came from and I can't stop worrying as I can't even find anything online about anyone who has had similar situations happen to their children so I'm wondering if there's anyone on here who has had a similar situation happen that could shed a bit of light or even a nurse who could reassure me? I'm in the process of switching Gap's because I don't particularly like the one I am with at the moment so I don't feel very confident with her advice. Thanks guys x worried mum x

The GP said there's no damage and you've been given antibiotic cream for him. It sounds like you've been given good advice, so try to stop worrying.

At the age of 3, it's perfectly normal for the foreskin to still be partly attached to the glans of the penis, rather than only right at the base of the glans like in an adult. Pulling it back firmly can tear those attachments, causing bleeding. If this happens the surface usually heals up nicely. The antibiotic cream will help keep the area lubricated, which tends to help healing, and avoids the foreskin reattaching in the sore area, and thus needing to separate again.

Okay thank you, that makes sense. I think I was just worried that because she didn't mention where exactly he had hurt or what had happened I was just a bit concerned but hopefully it will heal x
