Blisters on toes

DS age 10 developed red toes/blisters last March which lasted 10 weeks and finally cleared up after some antibiotics. They have appeared again and he has been given some antibiotic cream after an econsult. It’s worsening so I have sent another econsult with updated pics. Last year he was very unwell at the time, weight loss, diarrhoea, vomiting and I wondered if it could have been Covid. This time round he’s had a test for Covid and it’s negative. Just wondered if anyone had experienced similar?

His three toes are very dark and red compared to the rest of the foot but it hasn’t photographed well!

My children currently have Covid toes and it looks just like this. They never actually tested positive but the toe blisters appeared for both children whilst they were living in the house with myself and their dad, and we both did test positive.

There's some information on Covid toes on the Zoe symptom tracker research site. It says Covid toes might actually be a person's only symptom and they may or may not test positive.

I don't know why your son's toes have become like this again though when it sounds like he's recovered. It makes me a bit worried for my children that the virus hangs around and can flare up again. I hope your son's feet get better soon.

Thank you @Lindy2 I hope your children are well otherwise. I agree it looks exactly like the pictures online of Covid toes. Last year he was so unwell but it was early on just before lockdown when they weren’t considering any symptoms other than cough/temp and were not testing anyone at home. There are 6 of us at home with no Covid symptoms and he has been absolutely nowhere however I work in a hospital (although my twice weekly tests are negative). I will let you know what the GP says and if it clears up. I’ve added a picture from last year for info.

Dontstepinthecowpat I'd be interested to hear what your GP says.

This is my 12 year olds Covid toes at the moment. She also had some blisters on the tips of her toes that actually popped but are healing well now.

I hope your son's toes are better soon and I really hope this isn't a symptom that can reoccur. I haven't contacted our GP about it as I'm not sure doctors are actually going to know very much about it yet.

The second photo has come out rather dark on here. It's actually very like the initial photo you posted.

Both my sons have this at the moment, I took one to the pharmacy when his started and they suggested shoes rubbing but my son said they weren't.
My second has had his for about a month now and I've not sought any treatment but google does suggest covid toes. No other covid symptoms and they've both been well otherwise.
I have nothing to suggest to help you but thought I'd chime in so you know you aren't the only ones with it.

Just going back to this. GP suggested Covid toes and no alternative when I told her he had the same last year. Both DH and I are testing negative on our twice weekly lateral flow tests and DC haven’t been out. He’s got another cream but it’s still the same.
