Any natural/non medicated creams for possible eczema?

Hi all,
Starting to worry my 2 year old might be getting eczema (I have had it my whole life) I really don't want to go down the steroid cream/diprobase etc route. Using Burts Bees shower gel at the moment and used Mustela cream previously, I've tried all Childs Farm products on him (and myself) and actually found them very drying
Can anyone recommend any body lotions for him? He has 2/3 quick showers a week as he hates the bath anyway so I hope that's preventing his skin drying out more
Looking for any recommendations to try, thank you x

Get the most moisturising stuff you can find. Palmers cocoa butter, oilaitum, evening primrose oil (I used to split a capsule and rub on my skin).

Also make sure you’re using non bio detergent and don’t use fabric conditioner.

This worked well to keep dd1s skin moisturised. Obviously a flare up requires stronger stuff, but it did help

Im hoping for some recommendations too, allergy consultant prescribed Cetraben for my DD whos 8 months old and her eczema is now the worst its ever been, seems to have aggravated it. We only went in to talk about an egg allergy and I mentioned she had dry skin and a tiny bit of eczema on her neck and now she is red raw and itchy all over legs, neck and elbows.

Aveeno have always worked well for me and I’ve started using the baby line of products on DD as her skin was starting to dry out - working great so far! I’ve not needed a steroid cream for a few years since using it, and it smells good.

Aveeno products worked on my little girls skin from when she was a baby. You can get them online / supermarkets / boots etc. We still use them now and she is 9. You can get in body wash/ cream/ spray moisturiser. They do baby range as well as regular products. We also used to do porridge oats in her bath to soothe her skin. You put oats in a spare sock etc and tie the sock to the tap while running the bath. It soaks through the sock and gives the water a cloudy look from the porridge oats. Sounds strange but it defo worked. It was a tip from our health visitor at the time. Good luck

This!!

DS (11m) had a bad flare up a couple of weeks ago, went to Boots and got the Aveeno Dermexa (baby) bath and cream too, been using it every day and it honestly has been the best so far. Wish I'd tried it much sooner!!

Thank you soo much for all the recommendations so far, I also use Aveeno cream I didn't think to look for the baby version! Going to order some now. I really urge anyone to try avoid steroid creams as I've just gone through topical steroid withdrawal over the last 2 years, my skin got so addicted from using them for so long even the strongest cream didn't work, my skin is getting better now though. So I'm scared my son will get bad skin like mine 😰
I'm using Balmonds 'Skin Salvation' balm which is natural & I got as a small pot, on the dryness on his cheeks which seems to be working well as a recommendation x

Just wanted to come back and say I've been using the Aveeno Baby Daily Care moisturiser on my son every day since Thursday & his skin has improved so much and is much softer, so thank you for the recommendations, I think after another few days it should be 100%. Really recommend this cream and thanks for the help x

Came on to say Balmonds but I see you had the ointment already. We call it magic cream. They also do oils and moisturisers. Holland and Barrett carry most or all of their range afaik and it comes up on H&B's buy 1 get 1 for 1p every so often. Well I'm in Ireland so it's one for 1cent for me.

For washing we found Moo Goo brilliant. Much better than childs farm and lasts much longer.

ThreeLittleBirdz · 23/02/2021 01:41

Zoe Bee's creams are all incredible! All her products are 100% natural and seem to be great for a number of different skin conditions. Been using her gold cream and the difference is amazing! I'd suggest having a look at her website/Instagram page and reading through the descriptions for each cream. I do however believe the green cream would be a good option for your son as many others have used this for conditions such as Psoriasis and Eczema and noticed great results. Hope you manage to find something soon!

I found child's farm the same. Aveeno have a dermeze one which is pretty good but if you really want to get on top of it CeraVe daily moisturiser is amazing for my child's eczema and my own. It usually clears it up in a couple of days. Also my paediatrician recommended not bathing every day and now we do every 2-3 days and it's made a massive difference. Also rub the cream on while your child is still wet, helps to lock in the moisture and then reapply a few times a day until your on top of it.
