Would excess ear wax bother a toddler?

Would this cause discomfort or itching ears? My 2 year old puts his fingers in his ears and scratches his scalp behind ears (mostly when asleep) I think he is due for his final back teeth to come through so I put it down to that. He is a very slow teether and has done this for a while. He does also seem to have excessive ear wax (I only remove when it has come out of the ear with a gentle wipe). He doesn't have any symptoms of an ear infection at all. No rash on his scalp or neck/ears. Any ideas? X

Hello, my little one does this but it’s associated with her eczema I have discovered. Does your little one suffer from eczema at all?

Hello, thank you for your reply! Aww sorry to hear she has eczema :( I don't think he does, I can't see any rashes at all on the scalp or skin, I have eczema so know how awful it is. I might take him to the doctor to see what they think x

Yes, my 3 y/o kept sticking his finger in his ear and saying it hurt. GP gave us antibiotics but it didn't stop, so finally got them to see him face to face. When they looked he had a wax build up. Few days of olive oil drops and he's not complained since.

Yes. I agree with PP , try some olive oil drops in his ears ( you can by it from Pharmacy with a little dropper . Don’t put cotton wool in after, hopefully he should get a lot of relief by any impacted wax .
