Swimmers Ear -- otitis externa

Hi, I have an answer to anyone who has swimmers ear otitis externa. I had swimmers ear for over 10 years. Px various drops, nothing working long term. A keen swimmer, I had to keep my head above the water. Until I found a solution from a canadian website and tried this cream. Brulidine Cream. It says on the packet that it is for outer ear infections and is antiseptic and antibiotic and is active in pus and blood. The first time I used it - it worked that day. Price wise around 3/4 pounds a tube. I am confident to go in pools now and also outdoor swimming. Another tip to improve ear problems which works for me is TCP. Dilute half and half in a 'pippet glass tube' - cost around one pound from the chemist. strThe TCP can be stong when diluted still and can feel like a burn, so please be careful on how much you dilute the TCP before putting the solution in your ears. Improves niggly ear problems. Hope this has been helpful. I imformed my local GP about the success I had with the Brulidine Cream and have not needed any perscriptions since for the last 5 years. The Doctor stated that swimmers ear is difficult to treat long term unless you keep out of the water. So for me this Cream has let me be back in the swim. BRULIDINE CREAM Always have a tube handy if needed.

Sorry - correction - the cream Brulidine is antiseptic and antibacterial - not antibiotic.

@Jessica87, my DD has an outer ear infection at the moment and the spray I got from the pharmacy is not working. I have a tube of Brulidine which can be used for outer ear infection but not sure it it's safe to apply inside the ear canal?

One of mine has always suffered from this from childhood. From around 15yo they stopped using ear plugs in the shower but still have to use them whenever swimming and will for life. When young and ear plugs were a drama we just used a huge blob of Blu-Tak, it moulds itself in, stays in and comes out in in one piece easily.
