My child has had this on his head in the same place for over a year now.
It had previously flaked off in one chunk and was held in his hair.
It's not flakey like dandruff and I don't think it's psoriasis but I'm not entirely sure. It is thick like a scab and my DS doesn't scratch it.

Does anyone know what it is, if so how can I treat it?

I've tried different shampoos, exfoliating the area gently and moisturising oils.

Cradle cap?

mummymayhem18 · 14/01/2021 08:47

No idea I'm afraid but I have similar so would be interested to see if anyone medical may be on here and give you an answer. I haven't been able to see mine obviously as it's on the top of my head but have felt scabs on there and when they loosen I slide them down the hair and they look like yellowy bits of skin like that. I do sometimes get itchy.

Looks like cradle cap to me

StormBaby · 14/01/2021 08:53

It’s cradle cap. One of my children had a little patch like that until he was 11

Cradle cap- coconut oil worked for my DS.

Seborrheic dermatitis? Selenium shampoos work the best for it, but it takes a long time and in my experience doesn't ever go completely.

Cradle cap- I use child's farm sensitive scalp shampoo and it cleared up my daughters. Make sure you rub it gently on the scalp not just the hair

Cradle crap. Coconut oil only thing that worked for us

Catworrier · 14/01/2021 11:59

Amazing. Thank you for your answers. Cradle cap did cross my mind but I thought that went after they were little. I've got coconut oil so will start tackling it tonight.

Definitely looks like cradle cap. My son is 4 and still has some.
