7mo not really pooped in 2 weeks

Hi. I have a 7mo dd who really hasn't pooped more than one single golf ball size poo since last Sunday. 12 days ago.

She was ebf but started some solids around 5.5/6 months

We've rang 111 twice and spoken to our doctor over the phone. She's on lacatose and movicol but still nothing happening.

We do warm baths, bicycle legs, tummy massage and she's gassy.

She's a bit grumpy but not distraught or in pain. Maybe just a bit uncomfortable at times.

Did you have a baby that rarely pooped? Any advice??? It's stressing me out!

Most babies respond well to Movicol and/or Lactulose. If your baby is not having a bowel movement every couple of days or so she may become impacted, which is more difficult to resolve. The dose may need adjusting or a different medication may be indicated. There is excellent advice for parents about chronic constipation on the ERIC website.

Thanks I'll check it out. Our doctor moved her from 2.5ml of lacatose to 5ml but she still isn't going. 😩

Nope. You can buy over the counter in a pharmacy.

I was told by the HV that at some point some babies don't poo for 2 weeks and that's normal. Call your HV and see what they say?

I haven't got a clue who my hv is. We haven't seen or heard from anyone since she was a few weeks old. Besides her injections

Try the ERIC helpline. They are incredibly experienced nurses and gave me a plan to support my son including a disimpaction regime, which I then spoke to the dr about. Up to that point we’d been going in circles for months.

What are you giving her to eat? Some foods are constipating such as banana, rice, others encourage bowel movements cooked prunes , pear (with a lot of water), broccoli...
Anything white - toast, pasta, rice - has little fibre,

You should encourage liquids as well

Try brown sugar in warm water

Did she really pass a Golf ball sized poo ? My mum passed a golf sized poo when she had constipation and the drs were really concerned about her. Id ask to see your doctor. In the meantime I’d be giving her warm milk, warm water mixed with orange juice and warm meals anything to try and make something happen. Nice warm soapy baths and trying to sit her on a potty if she’s ok sitting up. Gravity might help.
