Moloscum contagion

Blossombelle1991 · 27/12/2020 06:47

My daughter whose 3 has moloscum Contagion on parts of her body. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these before they spread and get any worse? They are driving me insane and are so stubborn! Also what did they look like before they disappeared as a couple have become inflamed and look quite sore. Any help would be much appreciated thank you!

My two year old DS has this on one knee and I’ve been wondering the same. The GP was very relaxed about it

WutheredOut · 27/12/2020 06:51

Molludab! It’s bloody expensive but worth every bloody penny!

Funnyfive · 27/12/2020 06:58

Definitely Molludab. My dd had MC for months and it was really starting to spread but when treated it went away quite quickly.

Blossombelle1991 · 27/12/2020 09:40

I have actually tried molludab for 2 weeks and they are still there! So frustrating! I don't know how long to carry it on for as they did scab and become inflamed but they still seem to be there? Did it take a while for them to go? And how long did you use the moludab for? @WutheredOut @Funnyfive

We had a massive issue with these two years ago. Molludab was useless, stung so much it had to be wiped off.
What worked for us was a combination of sunshine on the smaller ones, religiously smothering them in Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.
Then getting DC to squeeze out the biggest one, unfortunately located v close to genitals.
After feeling plagued by them for months, once the big one was gone, they cleared up really quickly.

HairyMaclary · 27/12/2020 10:37

My son had these, they spread all along his legs and he had a couple on his hands. We tried everything, absolutely everything, nothing worked so we gave up. He had then for about 6 years, every so often we tried something a again. 2 months ago they all just disappeared. Completely. No idea why. Not much help, sorry!

Blossombelle1991 · 27/12/2020 21:30

@BigSkyLife did it hurt your child getting rid of the core as I can literally see the core poking out of some of her spots and just don't know what to do x

Try lemon Myrtle oil. Dilute and dab onto the spots

WutheredOut · 27/12/2020 21:53

My DS was covered all up his legs and then passed them to DD. We persisted with molludab for months and were absolutely insistent on washing hands and not touching scabs etc and it worked and never came back.

Marasme · 27/12/2020 21:58

GP told us to not pop them / remove the core, however tempting... drove me and DD insane.

We smothered them daily in sudocreme and cleaned them with alcohol wipes every morning and after bath. They disappeared after a year or so.

Marasme · 27/12/2020 21:59

now MC is gone she has... multiple verruca on her feet Confused

FrankiesKnuckle · 27/12/2020 22:04

We just left ours.
My child had them from February of this year and they started to activate from November of this year. They were on their trunk and left arm, they got a lot worse before they got better (just started to get better)
The 'mother' activated first with a big pussy spot which burst. It wasn't pleasant! They've been reluctant to let me have a go at them (sporner)
Thankfully after quite a trial they are now drying up and clearing off.
They are harmless. Awful to look at though.
I would just leave them be.

applespearsbears · 27/12/2020 22:09

My DC had this for months and months until I squeezed the 'mother' out completely and it cleared up really quickly

ChristmasCookies · 27/12/2020 22:13

Find the biggest , sorest, reddest one and squeeze it.

It finally kicks the immune system into gear and it will get rid of them!

BigSkyLife · 27/12/2020 22:29

@Blossombelle1991 it hurt when I tried to squeeze it. So left DS to do it. He was quite impressed when he got it out.
I think the language of MC appealed to him... we called the big one the Queen, and he was getting the Pearl out!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 27/12/2020 22:35

Dd had them so bad. She had one I the crook of her elbow that she refused to let me look at. (Screamed blue murder)She had to go to doctor in the end, who was ready to send me away for worrying. She almost ended up in hospital on an antibiotic drip. 22 years later she still has scars.

SweepTheHalls · 27/12/2020 22:38

A bath every day with a couple of drops of lavender and tea tree essential oils. I was really cynical, but it really worked!

JSpen · 27/12/2020 22:39

Bleach baths! Sounds crazy but really does work. And zinc cream (burts bees nappy cream has a high %). All 3 of my kids had the virus this year and I was so reluctant to try it on no.1 but when I did it worked and then with no.2 and 3 they cleared up so much quicker from doing it much earlier on. I would also recommend joining a Facebook group called Molluscum Kids Support Group. Really helpful tips on there.

domesticslattern · 27/12/2020 22:41

After months of waiting, I tried the trick of religiously putting sudocreme and plasters over every spot. Replaced the plasters after every bath. Went through boxes of plasters but it did work after only a couple of weeks- it was a trick I read on MN to cut off air to the spots. When the first one pops Smile then the others go. It's very satisfying.

CakeIsMyFavouriteAndBest · 27/12/2020 22:44

Both my daughters have had these on their bottoms. When the youngest had them we didn't want it to reinfect the eldest so we used dettol wipes on the toilet seat before and after. Found that something in the wipes seemed to kill them off.
Eldest got a couple on her arm after this. She wiped them with dettol wipes daily and they disappeared within weeks. Probably not the best suggestion but strangely it worked.

shash1982 · 27/12/2020 22:44

My DD has them in the crook of her elbow for nearly a year.
Aidocrwam seemed to make them more inflamed.
She tried squeezing one and the massive crater it left was impressive!
What worked in the end for us was swimming plasters over them.
The sun was aggravating them so we put the large swim plasters to cover them and left them on for the day, it seemed to suck the core out of them then they disappeared.

APurpleSquirrel · 27/12/2020 22:44

DS developed them last May & they finally cleared up on their own in October this year. Drs said not to bother just let the body sort them out eventually.

Haybo26 · 27/12/2020 22:48

We pricked each blister with a sterilised needle and then smothered in diluted tea tree oil. Worked a treat

Bagelsandbrie · 27/12/2020 22:51

Ds aged 9 has had one huge one on his bum for the last 4 years! Tried everything including molludab which he hated as he said it was so painful (so obviously I didn’t force him to have it) and all kinds of creams including ones from the GP. The doctors have now said just to leave it and it will go eventually. Will it?!! I can see ds paying privately to have it removed as an adult at this rate!

dontlikebeards · 27/12/2020 22:52

My dd had them for a couple of years. Seperate towels, good hygiene, do not pop them. They disappeared virtually overnight.
