Would you sleep on floor of 3 year old’s room...

...if they had a temp of 39c 2 hours after calpol? My husband thinks I shouldn’t but with a temp that high he’s bound to wake up and need me, right?

I wouldn’t sleep on their floor. I’d put them in with me so I could keep an eye on them though

Northernsoullover · 20/12/2020 21:49

I would put them in with me when they were poorly. I wouldn't leave them. I don't think I would leave them now tbh at 17 and 15 but they would probably have something to say about it Grin

ChalkDinosaur · 20/12/2020 21:51

I'd sleep in the room/put them in my room (but then DD rarely gets a temp so I'd be really worried!)

caffeinebuzz · 20/12/2020 21:54

I would if they asked me to, but otherwise just stick my head around the door periodically.

Honestadviceneeded · 20/12/2020 21:55

I would. I wouldn’t be able to sleep otherwise.

Attictroll · 20/12/2020 21:56

I would do the alternate baby paracetamol then ibuprofen thing to get it down and cold flannel. It's high and I would make dp sleep on floor and bring them in with me. A worrying temperature so I probably wouldn't sleep whatever

Wowcherarestalkingme · 20/12/2020 21:56

I would, or would have them in with me.

Haggisfish · 20/12/2020 21:57

Yes if I couldn’t have them in with me.

Stormwhale · 20/12/2020 21:58

I would be calling 111 about a fever that high after calpol in a small child. That is very worrying.

Wnikat · 20/12/2020 21:58

I think I have more chance of sleeping better in his room (proper mattress on the floor) than him sleeping in my bed from experience... (flailing and kicking me in the head)

He was exposed to a positive case at nursery last week so it’s probably covid, hopefully it’ll be mild...

He might not wake up and need you during the night . It's likely he will sleep deeply and wake up feeling better

Anniemabel · 20/12/2020 21:59

Yes I would definitely sleep with them or have them sleep with me. I’d also give them nurofen if you haven’t done that already.

Anniemabel · 20/12/2020 22:00

Sometimes when they have really high temperatures they sleep very well so I’d also set an alarm to wake up and check on him. I’m a big worrier though!!

foodtoorder · 20/12/2020 22:02

I'd be thinking of doing another temperature check and if still that high be seeking medical review.

Todayisgood2 · 20/12/2020 22:03

Ds (4) had temp of 40 for a week. He slept with me for a week, not to scare you but he woke numerous times to vomit half asleep due to high temperature and this was with calpol suspected covid.

Heartofstrings · 20/12/2020 22:04

If it was my eldest, no. High temperatures are common for him. In fact, for him that is low. If it were my youngest, I definitely would and would be very worried

Todayisgood2 · 20/12/2020 22:05

Should add- nurofen brought temp down a little. Calpol made no difference. This was March first week of lockdown so no medical help only skype. I was told he should be in hospital but there were no beds...

Kaliorphic · 20/12/2020 22:05

Goodness yes I would.

Iggly · 20/12/2020 22:07

Yes and I did when they were little. We had a decent set up in their room for years!
I assume you’ll get him tested too?

isawthatt · 20/12/2020 22:08

Yes definitely

Oly4 · 20/12/2020 22:08

Yes absolutely and I do. I’d also seek help if the fever doesn’t come down

cactusdog · 20/12/2020 22:09

Yes I absolutely would and do. I would not leave a young child with that high a temp.

noscoobydoodle · 20/12/2020 22:11

Yes although I usually kick DH out and have the poorly one in with me! If you are very worried ring 111- we had the ambulance out for my DS recently as he had a high temperature we could let get down and had convulsions (he was 10months). He was seen at hospital but discharged same day and then stayed in the room with me until he was better ( a few days). He tested negative for Covid.

Wnikat · 20/12/2020 22:11

Yes test booked for tomorrow morning. He does run not work temps so it’s not super unusual for him but will have set the mattress up next to him. Thanks for the heads up todayisgoodtoo , I’ve read that with kids the main symptoms can be upset tummy and that’s his only other symptom
