Dirty nappy unusually frequent at 7 weeks

I posted about this on another thread - my dc is 7 weeks old and for 4-5 days has been pretty much pooping at every nappy change. Other posters say this is normal and I would agree but I'm starting a new thread as this hasn't been usual for her - she was probably doing around 2-4 dirty nappies a day, until a few days ago.

The first days this started it was alongside lots of painful looking wind, squirty sounding poops (sorry!) and bad smell. There was also mucus in the poo.

I have always used the Tommee Teepee Perfect Prep for her bottles but decided to change this and make them manually as I've heard the machine can some times not filter properly. Since doing this just yesterday, there's a difference in her wind amount, she's not in as much pain, but the frequency of poos is still the same, every single nappy change is dirty.

Alot of posters advised this is usual - should I worry as it wasn't usual for her until a few days ago?

anyone else had issues with Perfect Prep?

I called 111 and they didn't seem concerned but noted the frequency was an issue. I plan to go to the GP tomorrow but would love some advice or thoughts on here tonight if you've experienced anything similar.

as well as the frequency issue its caused real sore redness on her bottom due to so much poo / wiping.

thanks

I can only really comment on the redness element and how to help/prevent that. Helping it at the moment you might need a nappy rash metanium cream to apply after cleaning and literally right before putting on new nappy. Preventing or minimising in future, use tissues to clean off most of the poo and wipes only sparingly when needed to get off the last bits, apply a nappy barrier cream ( like sudocrem) at each change.
