Sweaty 4yo

Just checked on dd before I went to bed and she's soaking with sweat, her hair etc is wet as well. Quilt the lot all wet.

Is this something I need to worry about or is it normal?

She's always been a rather warm child. And when she was a baby in her bouncer chair it would be soaking where her feet were. Health visitor at the time said she hadn't heard of babies doing that.

So thought I would ask on here before trying the gp.

Many thanks.

Does she show signs of adenoid issues? That can lead to sweaty/restless sleeping xx

Dd(5) has always “slept hot”, and is often sweaty, or covers off, or no pyjamas when i go into check on her.

She’s not at all sweaty during the day, and no suggestion of puberty-type symptoms, so i just have it down as one of those things and don’t worry about it.

*assuming you have checked temp for fever, obv

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/12/2020 20:07

No other issues other than being really sweaty when sleeping. No fever etc. When we had her in our arms as a baby feeding her the back of her head would end up drenched as well. So I'm wondering if she's just a hot child.

She did have a febrile convulsion when she was 18 months old but no signs of it happening again. The minute she looks warm I check her temp.

My 5 yo is a very warm person. Always wearing less than me, wears a cost under protest, sleeps in pants with a toddler 2.5 tog duvet while we're debating switching to the 13.5 tog from the 10 tog. If she stayed under a decent duvet to sleep I suspect she'd be sweaty but she's a light sleeper so always kicked it off rather than get sweaty!

TooMinty · 06/12/2020 20:32

My 6 year old is quite a sweaty sleeper, hair is often damp when I check on him before I go to bed. I don't really think it's anything to worry about unless there's other health issues?

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/12/2020 20:37

No other issues. She fell asleep earlier in her bed (playing in her room apparently) and I had to fully change her as she was so wet I thought she had wet the bed.

I'm also keeping an eye on her blood sugar levels as her dad is diabetic and I was worried it was that as her dad has night sweats as well.
