DD has a little pea sized lump come up in a vein on her neck, it happen in the summer and had a video call with the doctor who said to use ibuprofen gel and give it a weak as looks to be a small veinn that's been agitated.
It did go but then returned just over a week ago, this time tender and was bugging DD when rubbed against clothing.
Doctor saw us face to face to have a good look and said they would get an opinion from peads.
Called mid week and asked to see her again this morning, got another doctor to look too and have sent her up to hospital for them to check it.
Said he's pretty sure what it is, as the title of this post, a small surface clot, but he's not seen it in her age before.
It does seem to be more of an older age group thing, similar to varicose veins but in smaller veins.

Anyone had any experience with this in children?

Just seen your post. One of mine has a little lump that appears and disappears in his neck, but I don't have any knowledge or wisdom on his, or your daughter's situation...

Did they suggest it was fairly harmless, or will it have any implications for her?

I hope all goes well with the hospital check.

I think it's more puzzling than concerning to the doctors, bloods were fine and in all other aspects she's completely well.
The Gp check her over and there were no glands up to suggest any infections or anything else concerning.

At the hospital they also weren't sure exactly what it was or if it was a little clot why it's formed.
They wanted an ultrasound but couldn't arrange it while there yesterday so will call to book in the next couple of days.
So that's more reassuring as they are happy it's something that can wait.

Hopefully the ultrasound will show the structure of whatever it is and we can go from there.

In the meantime just trying to find ways to stop things like clothes aggravating it.
