DD tooth extraction not sure what to do for the best

DD aged 8 needs a tooth out due to decay. It is an adult tooth at the back.
The dentist advised that getting it done under sedation would be best and least likely to cause any trauma, but would need a referral to another practice.
Found out today that will be 6 to 8 months time due to covid backlog.
Would you:
a - wait until then (they said obviously if there is pain or swelling they'd do it sooner, but would this probably be in our practice and without sedation?)
b - get it taken out at our practice but without sedation just the local anaesthetic anyway, and remove the risk of it getting worse.
c - see if it could be done privately under sedation and possibly sooner? I'm not sure how much this would be, but would probably be able to manage this.

I don't know what to do, but waiting 6 months or more seems risky to me.

Thanks

My roots were deep and a bit twisty although I got a X-ray they arnt completely clear, It was my first tooth extraction ever and although it didn’t hurt it was too intense for me with the bright light, tugging and noise.

@PineappleUpsideDownCake

My duaghter needs a couple out and we're waiting for the hospital appointment.

I assumed private would be expensive?

It will be okay to wait wont it? She's not in pain...

I really don't know how much it might be. DD not in pain either.

If she isn’t in pain would you consider waiting it on it? If the tooth is coming out anyway it can’t get any worse and if it gets a painful you can get her bumped up the list.

Well I don't really want her developing pain. And there's no way of knowing how long she'd still need to wait whilst in pain.
I feel like I really owe it to her to at least try and get it sorted as quickly as I can.

Hi OP.

I was going to say C but the last couple of replies got me thinking that perhaps it’s best to just wait for the NHS sedation option as she isn’t in discomfort.

As she’s so young, a frightening experience of having a very physical extraction could end up giving her a phobia of the dentist in future.

Don’t feel guilty. Flowers I have an 8 yr old DD who has needed 2 fillings whereas I’m in my 40s and have only had one filling in my life despite eating way more sugar than DD. I’ve always brushed her teeth thoroughly twice a day. I honestly think a large proportion of dental health is influenced by genetics- my husband and MIL have had a lot of dental issues despite taking good care of their teeth.

I've been told my DS can wait until the tooth comes out itself or the abscess flares up again. But his is a baby tooth.
