She doesn’t eat junk food, and actually she doesn’t eat much. She stopped snacking since she’s started school and has a jacket potato for lunch most days (she’s dairy free). Tea time is mostly things like beef stew, fish pie etc home made and she doesn’t eat much of it.

What do you think is the problem? Is she wearing appropriate sized clothes? They usually have a height indication as well as age. Is she due a growth spurt?

My 5 year old is in 7-8 in some things, which sounds mad, but she’s tall and within the height range on that age clothes. 5-6 leggings are like capris!

Have you weighed her and measured her height? Is she very active?

Also does her skirt have an adjustable waist band? I was cutting one of mine in half not realising it was on the smallest setting. I let out a few buttons and it was fine.

She looks healthy to me. What is the problem? Are you worried she's too skinny or what?

superram · 25/11/2020 09:21

She’s still got the baby tummy but her weight looks fine. Weigh and measure her and look on kids bmi. I wouldn’t worry but would keep an eye out.

I'm failing to see any issue with her weight.

I hate this obsession with children's weight. Unless a child is obviously obese and/or has issues around food I think we should just leave them be.

When my DC were in junior school they were both bullied about their weight. They were a bit podgy. In my day this was normal, now people call that fat. My eldest grew 5 inches in year 7 and is now 6ft, healthy and slim. My youngest was badly picked on about his weight in year 4 and caused me issues around food with him. Now he's 11 and shot up like a rocket and looks tall and slim and healthy. He has never had a day off school sick.

Your daughter is not fat.

In fact she looks a good healthy size to fuel future growth.
