My son, nearly 3, has been hospitalised 3 times. Every time he was breathless, the last time was far worse & he needed to be on oxygen overnight and when he slept. He was only in 2 nights though. It is hard to gauge whether or not 3 times in a year is a lot or normal? He has barely attended nursery. No nursery at all during lockdown and since September he's been a total of about 6 mornings as he's been ill twice & it takes him a while to get better. I have pushed for a brown inhaler as at the moment we don't feel relaxed at all. He goes downhill very quickly when he does become breathless. All 3 occasions have involved him fighting a virus. Is there any reason why not to try the brown inhaler on a low dose?

You need the blue one for immediate relief. I had this during menopause, the nurse made me do a test, gave me two puffs on the blue inhaler told me to wait ten minutes then tested me again. Yep meno. asthma.

My middle son we ended up in hospital a few times when he was a toddler diagnosed with asthma then. He outgrew it so do not think it a permanent problem. Keep pushing for tests.

Thank you. I’ve started him with brown inhaler now. Hopefully it will help. He regularly needs his salbutamol.
