Dr won't examine rash

Can anyone shed any light on this rash. Both dd4 and ds5 have it. It's not sore and doesn't seem overly itchy. It started a 2/3 raised pimples spots and has spread significantly over the past 3 days.
We hired a hot tub last week and thought it could be folliculitus from that but it's spreading more now which seems unlikely.
I'm positive it's not molloscum because my ds has that on his arm and this is different. I asked for gp exam today and was told not but could have phone appt as they don't want patients in. I asked if I could send a picture and they said no. Described it on phone to Dr and he's adament it's chickenpox. It's spread like pox and looks a little like early stage pox but no blistering and not nearly as itchy as I'd expect. Both well in themselves and no temps.
Normally I'd wait and see but we have a very close family member in end of life care (not elderly) and assuming pox means we have to isolate from her. It also means I can't use my parents as childcare for the same reason.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Looks like chicken pox to me OP.
Neither my son nor daughter had much fluid in theirs.
Folliculitis is unlikely, it's too widespread and discrete.

Have your children had chickenpox OP?

JacktomyDaniel · 21/10/2020 17:46

@underneaththeash it's spread more today so I'm totally confused again. They are saying it isn't itchy at all!!! They aren't scratching and are well in themselves.
@NellyDElephant not that we know of. Ds5 had a few torso spots as a toddler but didn't come to anything.

Hmmm my son had similar - after having it mildly as a baby, caught it again last year at 5yrs old. He didn’t itch at all either. Doctor saw him and diagnosed chickenpox, I was adamant it couldn’t be, as he already had it! Apparently not! Grrrrr

JacktomyDaniel · 21/10/2020 18:13

Hmmm okay. I think given the spread I'm going to need to assume its chickenpox. Its terrible but I almost wish they were itchy so I knew that's what it was!

Chickenpox pox fluid filled blisters should be appearing and the older ones would be starting to scab over by now

JacktomyDaniel · 21/10/2020 18:42

@dementedpixie this is why I'm going round in circles. No itch, fluid or scabs. Spreading but they are well 😭

If they’ve had exposure before it may not behave typically? My son was vaccinated, got it anyway, and then got it again. The first time he had it it was classic, but the second time, just a few scattered fluid filled spots that didn’t itch and never scabbed, but just faded away.

ivfbeenbusy · 21/10/2020 18:47

Doesn't look much like chicken pox? Could be anything though if they were in a hot tub and one you've hired in as they are breeding grounds for all sorts........i didn't think children under 5 were allowed to use them??

JacktomyDaniel · 21/10/2020 19:07

@ivfbeenbusy we hired from a professional company, cleaned the entire thing ourselves first to be careful, filled and used all the appropriate chemicals. Only used with myself and husband and only at 37deg which they were fine with.

That defo looks like folliculitis. Both mine had it from paddling pool during lockdown. It was mild at first then after a few days was horrendous. One didn’t need the docs and it cleared up without her being up nor down. The other became very very unwell, temperature, headache and vomiting and needed antibiotics.

Dr won't examine rash

@Rallyaround thank you so much. That's the exact thing! Sadly we've followed all of the Chickenpox precautions anyway but better safe than sorry. It's almost all faded away now. No itch or blisters at any point
