My 11 year old son is very shy and anxious, he starts secondary school next year but I just don’t know how he is going to cope with science. The first time he fainted was when his tooth fell out, when he saw the blood he just went! I didn’t think it was to do with the blood I just put it down to going swimming and having a late lunch. The last time he fainted he was doing mummification on a doll at school just before lockdown, the school had to call me to pick him up and take to the doctor (they didn’t help much). He has done about the digestive system at school and he couldn’t look at the hand out and said everything just goes rainbow whenever the body is discussed. I’ve spoke to his teachers and they have not had it before and have no advice for me.
Has anybody experienced this or have any advice. Thank you in advance x

Have a quick Google of it, fainting is usually triggered by an emotional response to something (the other times are related to over heating, not eating etc). My ds6 faints at the sight of blood or sometimes even just the potential for blood! Luckily he's not squirmy about body parts but I do dread the first tooth he loses which is coming up soon as you say. He's a very sensitive sort.

The only thing you can do to prevent it is if you know ones coming (they go pale, inform you) get them to lie down flat and raise their legs up in the air. Give them a drink of juice, offer something sugary like a chocolate biscuit, immediate and full distraction can also work but it's harder to facilitate. My ds has been fainting since 18 months old, we've tried everything and had it medically checked out, not much can be done about it unfortunately.
